What is the ENRICH project?
ENRICH (Empowering Newcomers through Remote Information and Career Help) is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and supported by the Social Research and Demonstration Corporation and the Yukon Literacy Coalition. ENRICH is a Service Delivery Improvement project, and the goal is to develop and deliver innovative virtual and hybrid settlement services and tools that support newcomer retention in small and rural communities across British Columbia and the Yukon. By identifying and addressing unmet settlement needs, through an extensive needs assessment, the team is working to ensure that newcomers and residents in these regions have the tools, resources, and connections they need to thrive.
Why are we doing this?
The project team plans to use what they learn to inform future programming, to design and build programs that are customized to the needs of each community to support newcomers and Yukoners alike. To reduce misinformation, improve newcomer preparedness, support coordination between local organizations, and support rural growth and stability.
Project Overview
PHASE 1: [COMPLETED]
Engage with Yukoners through a thorough needs assessment. Speak with community members, First Nation citizens, service providers and employers to see what makes newcomers want to live in the Yukon and to hear the perspectives of Yukon residents around newcomer settlement. The project will work in and around 3 hubs: Dawson City, the Junction and Whitehorse.

What鈥檚 Next?
Phase 1 findings identified that newcomers and Yukoners say; it鈥檚 hard to find accurate, up鈥憈o鈥慸ate information in one place. Whether it鈥檚 housing, employment, community, culture, or simply understanding day-to-day life in the North, newcomers and employers face a patchwork of resources that can be inconsistent and out-of-date.
Coming in the spring of 2026: PHASE 2
To address the findings in Phase 1, ENRICH is going to develop a user-friendly, centralized website that is an accessible, interactive repository of information for individuals considering the Yukon as a place to live and work. The goal is to provide clear, reliable information to help individuals make informed decisions and support community integration. The website will include:
First Nations history and culture
Housing and employment information
Details about different regions in the Yukon, highlighting unique characteristics
Information on agriculture and farming, community dinners, hunting, and local food
Links to key organizations
Spotlights: Connecting through community and culture
Discover the vibrant centres that are hubs for history, art, and traditions across the Yukon.
