51Ç鱨վ welcomes back director Kathleen Duborg for a spy adventure that turns the genre upside down. A lightning-fast, laugh-out-loud comedy with mystery, espionage, romance and nonstop ridiculousness.

The 39 Steps follows Richard Hannay, a man in London who is wrongly accused of murder after a secret agent is killed in his apartment. To clear his name and stop a spy ring, he must flee to Scotland to find a crucial contact.

Trigger Warning: This production contains flashing lights, loud noises, haze, fog effects, and the staged use of a prop firearm.

Directed by 51Ç鱨վ Theatre faculty, Thrasso Petras, this murder mystery refuses to play by the rules. Two theatre critics find themselves pulled into the drama onstage—and suddenly they’re suspects in the crime! Hilarious twists and clever surprises keep you guessing until the very end.

The play blurs the line between spectator and participant. As the critics are drawn into the drama onstage, their identities unravel, revealing deeper insecurities and ambitions. Moon, the second-string critic, emerges as a semi-autobiographical figure for Stoppard—introspective, self-doubting, and yearning for significance.
