Free workshops
Workshops for 2026/27
No travel and no cost, our educators come to you! Our programs are available free of charge to school and community groups in the Greater Vancouver. Our environmental education programs include a variety of workshop topics, from wildlife to wetlands, stream ecology to backyard habitat. This year we will be offering our free workshops online (synchronous or asynchronous) an in person.
Free monthly workshops
Join us at our Coquitlam Campus on the last Monday of every month. These workshops are aimed at a more adult audience but people of all ages are welcome to come.
Think nature
Education is an important aspect of the Institute of Urban Ecology's mandate to preserve and enhance the natural environment in urban areas. We aim to cultivate a sustained curiosity about the local environment through immersive place-based learning. By integrating interactive inquiry, creative design, and outdoor field exploration, we invite learners of all ages to investigate the interconnectedness of urban ecosystems and analyze their own relationship to the natural world. Our mission is to empowering students to think like naturalists, apply evidence based questioning, and take active, sustainable stewardship roles in protecting local wildlife and habitats.
